The Aviation Industry in Denmark

Denmark handles millions of passengers every year, and its airports rely on large teams of workers to keep operations running smoothly 24 hours a day. Growth in tourism, business travel, air cargo and low-cost airlines continues to drive steady demand for airport staff at every level.

Because airports operate around the clock, they offer full-time, part-time and shift-based roles, often with allowances for nights, weekends and public holidays. This makes airport work a flexible and stable option for both new job seekers and experienced professionals.

Major Airports in Denmark with Job Opportunities

Most airport vacancies in Denmark are concentrated at the busiest hubs. The main airports where jobs are regularly advertised include:

• Copenhagen Airport (CPH)
• Billund Airport (BLL)
• Aalborg Airport (AAL)
• Aarhus Airport (AAR)

Smaller regional airports also hire, especially during peak travel seasons, which can be a good entry point for first-time applicants.

Types of Airport Jobs in Denmark

Airports employ people across dozens of departments. The most common and in-demand roles include:

1. Ground Staff & Baggage Handling

Ground staff and baggage handlers are the backbone of airport operations. Their duties include loading and unloading luggage, operating trolleys and ramp equipment, marshalling aircraft, and helping passengers at check-in and boarding. These roles usually require no experience and provide on-the-job training.

2. Cleaning & Housekeeping

Cleaning teams keep terminals, lounges, washrooms and aircraft cabins spotless around the clock. Cleaning and housekeeping jobs are among the easiest entry points into airport work, with full-time, part-time and night-shift options available.

3. Security & Passenger Service

Security officers screen passengers, baggage and cargo, while passenger service agents assist travellers at check-in, information desks and boarding gates. These roles carry more responsibility, pay better, and usually require a background check and good communication skills.

4. Cargo, Loading & Warehouse

Air cargo is a fast-growing part of the industry. Cargo handlers, loaders, forklift operators and warehouse staff move freight, sort shipments and prepare documentation. These physical roles often include shift allowances and clear progression into logistics.

5. Retail, Catering & Hospitality

Airports also employ large numbers of retail assistants, cashiers, duty-free staff, baristas, kitchen helpers and catering crew. These customer-facing roles suit friendly candidates and frequently include sales incentives or tips.

Other Roles at Denmark Airports

Beyond the main departments, airports also recruit for support roles such as maintenance technicians, electricians, drivers, fuel and refuelling operators, wheelchair and special-assistance staff, lounge attendants and administrative positions. This variety means there is often a suitable job for candidates with different skills and backgrounds, and it makes Denmark airports a place where many people build long and varied careers.

Airport Jobs for Freshers and Students in Denmark

Airports are one of the best places for freshers, students and career-changers to find work. Entry-level roles such as cleaning, trolley operation, baggage handling and cargo assistance are open to candidates with no experience, and many offer part-time and weekend shifts that fit around studies. Employers provide full training, so a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to work shifts often matter more than formal qualifications. Seasonal contracts during busy travel periods are also a great way to gain airport experience and move into a permanent role later.

The Airport Job Interview and Selection Process

The hiring process for airport jobs in Denmark usually starts with an online application and CV screening, followed by a phone or in-person interview. For airside and security roles, candidates must pass a background check and, in some cases, a medical assessment before starting. Interviews focus on your availability for shift work, your ability to follow safety rules, and your customer-service skills. Dress smartly, arrive early, and be honest about your experience and availability. Once selected, you will receive training and, where required, an airport security pass before you begin work.
